NYSC Member Takes Own Life Because His Babe Dumped Him

A 26-year-old NYSC member posted to Cross River has reportedly committed suicide after his girlfriend jilted him.

The body of the National Youth Service Corp, NYSC, member, identified as Ernest, was, Wednesday, recovered from his one room apartment after he reportedly took a poisonous substance.

It was gathered that the young man, who was in love with Chioma Okewuru, a fellow NYSC member, went berserk when the girl came back from her village over the weekend with a ring from another man she had promised marriage.

According to Vanguard, Ernest,an indigene of Edo State and a graduate of the University of Benin, was posted to Cross River State in October, where he met and fell in love with Chioma. Both were serving in Redemption Secondary School, Ofombogha 1 in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross Rivers State before the incident.

Mr. Noah Ntuen, Acting Divisional Police Officer for Obubra, while speaking with Vanguard on phone, said:

“The girl had told the guy that she would not marry him, but that they could be friends. So when she came back from home last weekend and showed him the ring her husband-to-be gave her, the young man became furious.

“On Wednesday, the situation became worse and at about 7pm, he locked himself in the room and took some poisonous substances.”

A source in the school where they serve also said:

“They met at the NYSC Orientation Camp at Abrekpe-Ebokpo and as luck would have it, they were both posted to the same school where they had a relationship going.

“He had the hope the whole thing would end in marriage, but Chioma already had another person she wants to marry.”

Acting DPO, Ntuen said the body had been deposited in the mortuary of Obubra General Hospital, while Chioma is with the police, where investigations on the circumstances surrounding the tragic death are in progress.

Okada Rider, 20 Yrs, Rapes Pregnant Corps Member In Ondo, Blames It On "Spirit"

The Ondo state police command have arrested a 20 year old man for allegedly raping a pregnant National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member at Imoru in Ose local government area of the state.

The suspected rapist, identified as Tumi Ayileka who said he is an Okada rider was among 27 suspected criminals paraded by the State Commissioner of Police, Isaac Eke during his monthly press conference held in Akure, the State Capital yesterday.

According to Eke, the rape victim (name withheld) boarded a motorcycle from Ifon to Imoru where she was posted to by the NYSC.

He narrated that the suspected rapist allegedly dragged her into the bush and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

The suspect who confessed to the crime said he raped the corps member unknowingly.

He said it was his first time of committing the crime, adding that he even still drove the victim home after the act had been carried out.

He said, “she approached me around 7.p.m at Ifon that I should take her to Imoru community where she serves and I obliged after agreeing on N500 charges fee. On our away going, I don’t know the spirit that fell on me and I don’t know when I rode her inside the bush and have carnal knowledge of her.

“Immediately after that incident, the spirit went off and I was ashamed of myself. I didn’t know she was pregnant before and I even took her home. Later on, she reported to the Police station and I was arrested. I don’t know the spirit that fell on me because I have never done that before”.

The Police Commissioner assured that the suspect would soon be charged to court as soon as the judiciary workers end their industrial strike.

The Disadvantages Of Marrying A Virgin

Most times when a girl decide to remain a virgin till she gets married, its usually out of indoctrination, or in some rare cases lack of exposure/opportunity.

Girls, especially in this part of the world are told to remain virgins till she gets married, so that her husband would appreciate her and put a lot of value on her. How true is this?

Well, if I should discover that my wife is a Virgin on our honey moon,I would be impressed that she was able to hold herself, that shows that she is disciplined. It also gives me some sense of pride that I am the "first" grin

On the other hand.......

I will feel a bit worried.

Sex is the number one factor that determines the success of a marriage.

A virgin would have one or more issues relating to sex.

There are two categories of virgin(female)

1)Those that self-service.
2)Those that don't self-service.

A virgin that self-service would be selfish on bed. She would feel she can satisfy herself and probably doesn't require her husband for sexual fulfillment. Its their kind that would be faking orgasm in bed. They are usually the feminists. angry

A virgin that don't self-service would be a sex maniac after marriage. Especially if her husband is really experienced on bed. All the urges she has failed to satisfy while in her youth would be burdened on her husband. Its their kind that won't get satisfied after 6 rounds cheesy

You see. Both kinds of virgin would pose some problems to their husband after marriage.

Imagine if your wife can't be satisfied from your joystick, check closely she was/is probably a masturbator while in her youth. Worse of all when she fakes orgasm. Problems would start emerging.

Imagine if your wife has more libido than you do, after all the hectic pounding and pounding, she starts moving her hands over you while you resting cheesy and then you start feeling insufficient.

This is my opinion.

*dodges bottles from virgins*

Romance- Celebrating Valentine Miles Apart

“…Wherever you are, baby, baby you are never far away, you are always on my mind” This line from Lagbaja’s “Never Far Away” makes a lot of sense for those of us in long distance relationship. This part of the song captures the central theme of this piece. No matter how far away your partner is, Love conquers all.
Living far apart can be pretty difficult especially for young lovers – the sense of insecurity among other issues is the bane of such relationships. The situation if not properly managed may result into an eventual break up.
We have had situations where couples in distant relationships had to breakup on grounds of infidelity, lack of communication and constant insecurity. Distant relationship management requires a lot of hard work, that goes without saying.
Trust, patience, commitment will be tested especially on a special day like Valentine’s Day.
As Valentine’s Day approaches and excitement builds up, many in distant relationships will be agitated and less excited since there is nothing to look forward to but the reality of their status as long distance lovers. Who deserves the blame? – No one but fate.
Don’t despair just yet. Being in a relationship has its ups and downs and there are better ways to express feelings and showing love on a day as significant as Vals Day.It is important to take time out and get creative with ways to connect with boo or bae regardless of distance. Needless to state how important it is to keep your romantic relationship spicy!
All the same, you just might find yourself in a distant relationship sometime in the future. Did you say God forbid? Well, maybe you should plead with fate. Celebrating Valentine’s Day Miles Apart from your lover should not be an issue as far proper planning and execution are in place.
There are a myriad of ways you can effectively connect with your lover without his or her physical presence.
Are you thinking of sending a love letter? Interesting! That won’t be too bad, let’s go back in the day of letter writing. It would make the emotionally-laden experience very interesting.
Your partner would appreciate the effort that went into writing such a letter and will feel really special and appreciated.
Sending a romantic Email is definitely a great way to start your Vals day. A very lengthy email that expresses your in-depth emotion with absolute sincerity is something money cannot afford but will leave that lasting remark coupled with the memories of a lifetime.
Watching a romantic movie together is actually one sure creative way to celebrate the romantic holiday together with your sweetie. Again, planning is crucial here. Decide on the particular movie to watch, schedule time and ensure you both watch it together while ‘skyping” – there’s no need to stress that a distant relationship is expensive to run. The plan should be to give you a feeling of connection which obviously cannot stand instead of your partner’s physical presence but is not bad at all.
Better still; watch a movie you both watched when you were together. It would really be great to relive memories of beautiful moments you both shared in the past.
Surprise Delivery: Roll up your sleeves man! You know your bae very well. You know what she cherishes. Gift her some flowers, watches, a piece of jewellery or anything to make her feel like a goddess. You don’t have to break the bank to find a perfect but affordable gift for her from online stores like Kaymu and Jumia. You should actually window shop before that deal day. There are a lot of deals and exclusive items on sale that you can ship to her address. Make it a surprise!
How about a lil shoutout?!
Exploit the power of broadcast media: However far away, you could still reach out to your partner across the miles by dedicating to him, his favorite romantic song on a popular radio or TV show. However, before you dedicate a song to your partner, ensure she tunes in on the purpose won’t be defeated.

Romance- 5 Major Mistakes Nigerian Men Make In A Relationship

1. You Don’t Fight For Her.

No matter how much you love each other, disagreements are an inevitable part of being in a relationship. Men often make the mistake of fighting against their partner rather than fighting for her. A man who fights for his partner makes her feel safe and cared for.

2. You Never Took Time To Study Her.

Though men are often all-too-aware that the women they’re in relationships with are complex, they often make the mistake of relying on surface knowledge in the way they relate to their partner without really understanding her.

3. You Ain’t Trustworthy.

Nothing destroys a relationship more quickly or more thoroughly than doing something that breaks down your partner’s trust in you. Nothing cultivates a relationship more than being dependable.

4. You Never Made Her A Queen.

Many relationships suffer when the woman begins to feel either unimportant or less important than something else. The best relationships are often cultivated most by the value a man places on the woman he loves.

5. Your Didn’t Take Her To Different Places.

Relationships can grow stale when dating becomes routine by doing the same things over and over. Studies have shown that couples who spend their time trying out new activities are generally healthier.

What to know about Valentine's Day celebration.

Saint Valentine's Day, also known as Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is a holiday observed on February 14 each year. It is celebrated in many countries around the world, although it is not a holiday in most of them.
St. Valentine's Day began as a liturgical celebration one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus. Several martyrdom stories were invented for the various Valentines that belonged to February 14, and added to later martyrologies. A popular hagiographical account of Saint Valentine of Rome states that he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. According to legend, during his imprisonment, he healed the daughter of his jailer, Asterius. An embellishment to this story states that before his execution he wrote her a letter signed "Your Valentine" as a farewell.Today, Saint Valentine's Day is an official feast day in the Anglican Communion,[4] as well as in the Lutheran Church. The Eastern Orthodox Church also celebrates Saint Valentine's Day, albeit on July 6 and July 30, the former date in honor of the Roman presbyter Saint Valentine, and the latter date in honor of Hieromartyr Valentine, the Bishop of Interamna (modern Terni). In Brazil, the Dia de São Valentim is recognized on June 12.
The day was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In 18th-century England, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). In Europe, Saint Valentine's Keys are given to lovers "as a romantic symbol and an invitation to unlock the giver’s heart", as well as to children, in order to ward off Saint Valentine's Malady.Valentine's Day symbols that are used today include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten valentines have given way to mass-produced greeting cards

APC Reacts To Election Shift, Says It's “Highly Provocative”

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has just heard over the news media that The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has decided to postpone the elections by six weeks on the strength of a letter by the security chiefs that they cannot provide security for the elections nationwide because of the commitment of its resources to fight insurgency in the north eastern part of the country.

This is clearly a major setback for Nigerian democracy, and our Party is meeting in emergency session to study its implications and will inform Nigerians of its decisions in the next few days.
In the meantime, though what has happened is highly provocative, I strongly appeal to all Nigerians to remain calm and desist from violence and any activity which will compound this unfortunate development. We must not fall into this obvious trap. Change we must. They can only delay it; No one can stop it.
I want to assure all Nigerians that the All Progressives Congress will not abandon its commitment to change and will sustain the struggle to establish a new Nigeria.

PDP Hails INEC Over Elections Postponement, Urges Supporters To Remain Calm

As Nigerians continue to react towards the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the February general elections, the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, has expressed its support for the postponement of the general elections, saying it was in the nation`s interest.
The party’s position is contained in a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of campaign organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, on Sunday in Abuja.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, had at a news conference on Saturday night, announced the postponement of the general elections earlier scheduled to commence on Saturday 14, by six weeks.
Jega said that the Presidential and National Assembly elections slated for Feb. 14 would now hold on March 28, while Governorship and State Houses of Assembly fixed for Feb. 28 had been shifted to April 11
He explained that the postponement was predicated on advice by the nation’s security chiefs, who said that the military had a major operation against the insurgency in the North-East.
``Rather than do an inconclusive elections, we had better wait until there is adequate security,’’ Jega had said, and added that the decision to postpone the elections was reached after wide consultations with critical stakeholders.
Fani-Kayode said that the organisation concurred with the decision to shift the elections, stressing that it was in the interest of deepening democracy in the country and in national interest.
``INEC must be commended for showing the courage to shift the elections, after acknowledging the fact that its state of preparedness was not 100 per cent.
“Since this decision has been taken in the interest of deepening democracy and in national interest, we accept it in good faith.
``We commend INEC's courage and obvious commitment to ensuring a free and fair election, '' he said.
He said that with the postponement, INEC had allayed the fears of many Nigerians that may not have the opportunity to vote for the candidates and parties of their choice on election days.
Fani-Kayode maintained that INEC had by the decision, ensured that no one would be disenfranchised and had helped to guarantee the safety and security of Nigerians during the elections.
He added that the shift would enable the nation’s security agencies to put better measures in place to secure the North-East and ensure that elections could hold in the region.
The former aviation minister however disagreed with All Progressives Congress’ (APC) stance on issues of the polls shift.
“By insisting that the elections should be conducted on Feb 14, the opposition was not only dangerously flirting with chaos, but also putting our country firmly on the path of confrontation, division, injustice, disaster and destruction.
“This is especially so, given the fact that no less than 34 per cent of eligible voters have not been able to access their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
``A situation where such a large percentage of our people would have been disenfranchised is unacceptable and the fact that the APC was insensitive to that fact speaks volumes,’’ he said.
The campaign organisation’s spokesman said that INEC must have drawn a useful guide from available security reports from the North-East, following acts of insurgency.
He urged PDP supporters to remain calm and patient, stressing that the party was strong.
``Our candidate is confident; our course is just; our God is mighty and our victory is assured. No matter what happens and no matter how long it takes, we shall prevail, ‘’ he said.

US Condemns Postponement Of Nigeria’s Elections

The United States government has expressed ‘deep’ disappointment by the decision to postpone Nigeria’s presidential election, which had been scheduled for February 14.
A statement by U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, shortly after the announcement of the poll shift by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, on Saturday, said political interference with INEC is unacceptable.
Mr. Jega, while announcing the shift, said INEC’s decision follows a letter from security agencies informing the commission that security cannot be guaranteed if the elections go ahead as scheduled.

He said the Nigerian military is currently engaged in operations against Boko Haram insurgents in the north-eastern part of the country.

“Last Wednesday…the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) wrote a letter to the Commission, drawing attention to recent developments in four Northeast states of Borno, Yobe, Adamawa and Gombe currently experiencing the challenge of insurgency.

“The letter stated that security could not be guaranteed during the proposed period in February for the general elections,” Mr. Jega said.

But the U.S. government in its reaction said “it is critical that the government not use security concerns as a pretext for impeding the democratic process”.

Mr. Jega had also on Saturday announced new dates of March 28 and April 11 for national and state elections.

The US said the international community would be watching closely as the Nigerian government prepares for elections on the newly scheduled dates.

“The United States underscores the importance of ensuring that there are no further delays.

“As I reaffirmed when I visited Lagos last month, we support a free, transparent, and credible electoral process in Nigeria and renew our calls on all candidates, their supporters, and Nigerian citizens to maintain calm and reject election-related violence,” Mr. Kerry said.

Ivory Coast wins the 2015 African Cup of Nations

Boubacar Barry scored the winning goal for Ivory Coast as they beat Ghana 9-8 on penalties in the final of the African Cup of Nations.
There were as many potential goals as there were sending-offs in the first half. Serey Die should have been sent off for his first reckless tackle on Wakaso Mubarak, and later escaped a second yellow, and Asamoah Gyan went unpunished for treading on Eric Bailly's foot.
Both sides had chances. Max Gradel sent a rising shot just wide of the goal for Ivory Coast, and Christian Atsu and Andre Ayew both hit the woodwork for Ghana.
In the second half, John Boye and Bailly clashed heads, and Boye should have been sent off but the referee again gave no red card. The rest of the match passed with neither time especially threatening, with extra time uneventful.
The match then went to penalties, and after Barry claimed to be injured halfway through the shootout, and then before his own spot kick, he converted to win the tournament for the Ivory Coast.
