New Super Eagles coach says he cannot be bribed- Sport

New Super Eagles manager Sunday Oliseh has maintained that he will not bribed by players who want to get into the national team.
Nigerian coaches have been accused of collecting bribes while choosing players for their team, but Oliseh said that he would run a honest administration in the Super Eagles and will not accept money from any player or player's agent.
Like I said earlier on, I will only invite players who merit [being] in the national team by playing regular football in top European and African leagues," Oliseh is quoted to say by Complete Sports.
"I will call players who deserve to play for Nigeria. There will be no place for mediocrity in my team.
"I don’t want to believe that players and their agents bribe coaches to make the national team, but if it is true that it happens like the media has reported, I will say it is most unfortunate.
I will not condone that. I am even too big to be bribed by any player. If it was so before, that era is gone because only the best will play for the Eagles."
Oliseh will take charge of his first Nigeria game in September when the Super Eagles take on Tanzania in Dar es Salaam in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.

NYSC Bars Pregnant Women, Nursing Mothers, PG Students From Service - NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has barred pregnant women, nursing mothers and students engaged in postgraduate studies from enlisting in the national service across the country, until they are free to participate effectively.

Rising from a two-day pre-mobilisation workshop for the 2015 Batch “B” NYSC programme, held in Kaduna, Director-General of the NYSC, Brig-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, stated that the exemption of pregnant women and nursing mothers, as well as post-graduate students from national service was because they would not be able to undergo the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC.

The four cardinal programmes include mobilisation, orientation, primary assignment and winding-up passing out parade.

In a communique, the NYSC also resolved that henceforth, pregnant women and children would no longer be allowed into orientation camps across the country for service under the scheme established by the Gen. Yakubu Gowon administration in 1973.
Arguing that prospective corps members must go through the four stages of national service to qualify to receive certificate of national service, Olawumi faulted a situation whereby prospective corps members, especially pregnant women and nursing mothers, would be absent from the stages of the national service, only to resurface for posting to their various places of primary assignments.
Meanwhile, the resolution workshop tagged: “ICT and NYSC Mobilization Process: Towards Eliminating Identified Challenges,” added that henceforth, documents for concessional posting request on marital or health grounds would be forwarded on-line as against the old practice of “bringing such to the NYSC headquarters in Abuja.”
It noted that prospective corps members would henceforth be given the opportunity to choose their choice outside their socio-cultural and linguistic areas, using ICT solution.

This, according to the NYSC, is in a bid to tackle the problems of deluge of concessional request with which the scheme is inundated with regularly.

Gifts You Should Never Give A Woman On Her Birthday - Romance

These are the gifts you should never buy a woman on her birthday (except she asks for them specifically). They are thoughtless and not the kind of gift any woman would appreciate.

Cheap Perfumes:

If you want to buy perfumes, body sprays, body mist, make sure they are original and not the cheap kind you pick in drug stores or the road side. That will only show that no thought went into what she really likes when you were picking out the gift.

Fake Jewelries:
This is even worse than the cheap perfume. Don’t buy a lady any jewelry that will lose its lustre in no time. If you are buying her jewelries, make sure they are very original. There are nice jewelries that don’t even cost much. If you can’t separate the fake from the authentic, ask a female friend to help you or buy from a trusted shop/store.

Under wear:
Some women may like this especially if it is coming from that special someone but never ever buy a random girl, your colleague, class mate, “just your friend” underwear. It spells “wrong” on all levels. If you’re going to buy for that special someone, make sure it is lingerie; something from Victoria secret, Marks & Spencer also have great female underwear (I love them, they are very comfortable). There are lots of good brands of underwear you can shop from.

Cheap/Fake Fashion Items:

Don’t buy clothes, shoes, bags for a lady if it is a cheap imitation of the original; women have a way of knowing these things and some of these imitations are poorly made especially with our “brothers” who seem to have issues with getting the spellings right. You will see “Guggi instead of Gucci”. I have seen Tonny Hinfinger before. With sales on online stores and even some virtual shops, you don’t have to worry about spending so much on a gift. Besides, if she is special, she is worth the pain; isn’t she?

Flowers:

I love flowers, they are very sweet gifts but don’t come with flowers alone on my birthday. At least let it be flowers with other things like a card, cake, chocolates and all those sweet chops. Leave the flowers till Valentine’s Day. It is my birthday, make it rain.

Tickets To An “Uninteresting” Event:
If you’re going to buy her ticket to any event or to watch a movie, it has to be somewhere she will really enjoy going to. Don’t get a ticket to a football match (except if she is a big soccer match). If you’re buying tickets, make sure it is to some place she will really be thrilled to go.

There are countless things you should never buy a woman; anything she is not interested in or doesn’t like will be considered as a terrible gift for her. You can’t buy her a game console if she is not a game fan and expect her to like it.

When you’re buying her gifts for her birthday, make sure you consider her likes, hobbies and interests. If you can’t do it by yourself, get someone to help you out with picking out the gifts.

British Police Force Demands Anyone That Wants To Join Must Learn Yoruba, Italian and more

Yoruba tops list of languages required by the Metropolitan Police

Scotland Yard has come under fire today after placing an advert demanding that anyone wanting to join as a police officer be able to speak a second language.

The Metropolitan Police wants to bolster the number of officers able to speak and understand 14 languages which are widely used across London.

As part of a month-long trial which started today, new recruits must speak English and one of Yoruba (Nigeria), Hebrew, Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, Italian, German, Turkish, Greek, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Sinhala (Sri Lanka) or Bengali to join as Met Police officers.

But the move has sparked criticism from a former officer and members of the public on Twitter.

Retired Met Police officer Chris Hobbs wrote: “I’ve kept reading and re-reading it. Can’t believe it. What about potential BME (black and minority ethnic) recruits who only speak English.”

He added: “Won’t this also adversely affect the recruitment of guys and girls from the black community whom we would like 2 [sic] see more of?”

After Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe set an ambitious target of having 40 per cent of all officers from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, only 18 per cent met that criteria when the latest intake passed out in March.

According to a report published by the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee in December 2014, before the most recent recruitment campaign, only 11 per cent of officers serving in the Met were from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background, compared with approximately 40 per cent of the population of London. The current BME figure in the Met is now 12 per cent.
Members of the public also appeared less than enthusiastic about the new initiative.

Simon Holdaway tweeted: “The Met’s lack of understanding of the problems it faces is stunning’, while another user wrote: ‘the lunatics have finally overtaken the asylum.”

Meanwhile, Carole Hawkins tweeted: “For £19,000 a year, this country is now getting really silly.”

Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said:
“We know that almost 300 languages are spoken in the capital. We need to recruit and deploy officers with second languages in areas where those languages are spoken.

“I believe it will help boost confidence, help to solve crime more effectively and support victims and witnesses.”

A Met Police spokesman said: “It’s a pilot scheme for four weeks. We will review it after four weeks and see what the take-up is and how successful it has been in terms of the number of people expressing an interest.

“With so many languages spoken in London we recognise that some of our victims, witnesses and others who come into contact with the police may not be fluent in English.

“This is about strengthening our capability to match the needs of some Londoners. We know there is a demonstrable link between the skills and capabilities of our workforce and public confidence in London’s police.

“The language requirement is the latest in a number of initiatives the MPS has introduced in a bid to make the MPS more reflective of London’s communities.”

Chairman of the Metropolitan Black Police Association, Janet Hills, said: ‘This is about the cultural competency of officers within the organisation and those they are looking to recruit.

“The MetBPA are broadly supportive of the intention but recognise that more needs to be done to effectively utilise the existing skills of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic officers by consciously placing them into communities where they will have the greatest impact.

“Language is just one of the competencies that the MPS can utilise but unless officers with the right skills are placed in the right locations these attributes will be wasted.”
